Project Details
In 2015, I served as the Lead Designer and Developer for the launch of Dois Terços, the most influential digital news portal dedicated to the LGBTI community in Bahia, Brazil. This project required a balance of bold, engaging visual design and a high-performance editorial backend capable of delivering daily news to a wide audience.
The Mission: Amplifying Underrepresented Voices
The goal was to create a professional, safe, and highly accessible news platform for a demographic that lacked a dedicated, high-quality media outlet in the region. I was responsible for the entire digital identity—from the initial UI/UX concepts to the full-stack development of the portal.
A Robust News Engine with WordPress
I utilized WordPress to build a custom editorial workflow, allowing the Dois Terços team to manage a high volume of news articles, opinion pieces, and event coverage. I engineered the backend to handle diverse media types—including photography and video—ensuring a rich multimedia experience for readers.
My Role & Contributions
Lead Designer & Developer: Executed the “one-shot” project from initial wireframes to final deployment, handling both the creative and technical layers.
Full-Stack Development: Coded the front-end using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, while customizing the PHP-based WordPress core for optimized performance.
Digital Sustainability: Created a clean, well-documented codebase that has sustained the platform’s operations from 2015 to the present day.
