In 2018, I joined RC Design as a Full-time Developer and took on my first major Canadian project: the digital portal for Humber River Hospital. As one of Canada’s most technologically advanced hospitals, they required a web presence that matched their reputation for innovation while remaining deeply accessible to patients and the North York community in Toronto.

The primary objective was to transform a complex institutional site into an easy-to-navigate, user-friendly portal. In a healthcare context, speed and clarity are critical; patients and families need to find emergency information, clinic locations, and department details without friction.

Scalable Architecture: Built on WordPress, I utilized a combination of Bootstrap and jQuery to create a responsive, high-performance interface that functions flawlessly across all devices.
Long-term Iteration: Beyond the initial launch, I managed the site’s evolution over several years. This involved auditing performance and developing/integrating new features and plugins to meet the hospital’s growing digital needs.

Key Contributions

  • Legacy Maintenance: Proactively updated the codebase over time to ensure compatibility with modern web standards and security protocols.
  • UI/UX Focus: Prioritized “clean” CSS3 layouts to ensure that critical healthcare information was legible and professional.
  • Collaborative Success: Successfully transitioned my international expertise into the Canadian tech landscape, delivering a high-stakes project for a public sector leader.
